  1. Past hour
  2. Really good memories of Butts and Bows, sitting at the small table right near counter with bow scale talking about archery and hunting. Nothing else really mattered .
  3. And, it would appear, younger stripers
  4. I’m open to any game. Turkey season is basically over. It’s more about getting out in the field and gaining the knowledge and experience. Deer hunting is always something I wanted to get into. I’m willing to learn and see what I like most.
  5. Today
  6. Hi all! I live in bergen county. 40 years old, but never too late to start! Looking for a mentor to help me get started in hunting. Got my hunting license and am looking for someone with experience to show me the ropes. Willing to travel if need be. Please advise. Thank you all in advance.
  7. @TroutandBucks Focus on building muscle, rather than going down the path of doing cardio. Going for walks is fine, but don't overdo things like jogging. A simple bodyweight routine of exercises is a good place to start. A 5 minute warmup of jumping jacks and other dynamic movements, followed by 4-5 sets of bodyweight squats, pushups and some chinups (but a cheap doorway chinup bar for $20) will be a great place to start. Then cool down and spend 10-20 minutes doing some gentle stretching/yoga poses. You can do this type of work daily, but start by trying it every other day. Maybe on the "off days" run a few sprints in your yard or at the park. Again, warmup, run the sprints and then coold down and stretch. Remember, this whole process is slow and deliberate. As for me, the school activity took most of my night, so I just did some recovery work last night. Foam roller, stretching and the Shakti Mat. I have a half day at work today and then a dentist appointment. I'm going to go home and just relax and prep dinner. Then I have MMA later on. I'm hoping to do a striking session, althought I still need to take it easy on my left hand for another few weeks.
  8. Thanks everyone. Next year is a “zero year”. This one was no biggie.
  9. My apologies, I only killed the one on Sparta Mountain last fall. One down, 217 to go….
  10. Down over 30 pounds now. Want to get out of the current weight range asap so may change some things up but we will see. Next week dont have much going on so will be able to do more outside
  11. Back muscles are SO touchy; for me, have had an ongoing sciatica issue, particularly on the right side. For onths, Id get out of bed and stretch and twist and grind- to no avail. In fact, it started getting worse. After doing a little research, I focused on different, gentle stretches, primarily focusing on psoture and retaining that curve in your spine /lower back area. Although not 100%, it is MUCH better now, thankfully.
  12. Fish and game told me any nj "open space " not posted against hunting can be hunted.
  13. You're supposed to clean these things? if you have heavy dust air compressor outside and you will blow more dust out that you'd ever imagined was in it.. Light dust can be a dusted with a damp cloth or feather duster. For birds I use a large makeup brush (the type they brush your face off at the barber shop) light air compressor from a distance if needed. For fish, damp rag, but don't wipe the paint off.. careful on mounts that don't have a good gloss coat
  14. Sitting with a wallet turning your hips is a definite road to back pain I also don’t ever have my wallet in my pocket while sitting . .
  15. I don't mind the boars but the mothers with cubs are a nuisance.
  16. Did your wallet look like this? LOL
  17. I just wipe off with a damp rag and now and then use a duster. No problems as I have mounts for over 30 years
  18. This is the reason we have the bear hunt. Need to control the numbers
  19. Just have your wife put your socks on for you. after all you been bringing dinner home [ turkey ]
  20. Needs a steel collar in the winter
  21. Looking for dinner just like you.
