  1. Past hour
  2. Where? By Atlas yacht club or down Hook Road, the old navy base? I can’t think of any other places, but I haven’t been there in 30 years.
  3. Today
  4. But I run Stihl not Husky, so that would never happen to me.
  5. I’ll throw some slugs in!
  6. Nomad

    Stripers

Yes, just down the beach from there
  7. NOAA closed trophy Bluefin category starting tomorrow at 11:30pm. Very bummed out about this news.
  8. For the want of a wedge, the bar was lost!
  9. Back to the top: Make me an offer or maybe a trade? Its a great rod and reel and line outfit with vest & flies a you need is water and cooperative fish. Would consider a trade for 20ga or 12ga target loads or 9mm or .45 ammo.
  10. Do you like the QuakerBoy call box? They make a great Woodie call! All their calls are good and reasonable.
  11. I used 2 different strikers on an aluminum pot call and a slate pot call. Also used my QuakerBoy box call. Nuttin'. Saw more humans and cats than I did turkeys. I can't bring myself to using a duck call - I'd feel funny
  12. Everyone around us caught yesterday. We did not get our bite.
  13. Mix it up! I pulled out my old top of the line Sweet Susie Snood call with a QuakerBoy Striker this past Monday. We also clucked with a mallard call. I been also using a Woodie Call if I set up by swamps. You never know what strikes the right message.
  14. A end to a hell of a day had birds all over me today once I started to get deeper in guess I just found the right state land on the right day
  15. I didn't see or hear anything today either if it makes you feel better. My son had a tom with 3 hens but couldn't get it to come in.
  16. Well, just to publicly humble myself, I'm getting skunked this week really bad. This morning continues the trend. I have a friend with property that borders a WMA so I parked at his place and walked a half mile into that WMA. Started setting up some decoys just before 5am on the edge of a field (next to some thick woods where I heard a gobbler back on Monday). Then I look at the other side of the field and I notice the woods start to light up -- brighter, brighter... here comes a truck, headlights blaring. I flash him with my headlamp and he very quickly turned around and drove away, so that was nice of him. But now I have no idea where he's going to go and if I have to worry about how close he's going to be. I sat for hours, didn't see or hear a thing except for crows (silver lining: I have a new crow spot ). Around 8:30 when I'm about to pack up, I hear squirrels behind me go crazy - never heard so many squirrels squawking (silver lining #2: I have a new squirrel spot ). I'm thinking there must be a coyote or fox running around behind me. I heard the leaves rustling too - I thought maybe it's a turkey?? Or maybe it's a coyote? But nope... few minutes later, I see a black cat show up 10 feet to my right checking things out, then turns around and goes back into the woods to bug the squirrels some more. I then make the long dejected turkey-less walk back to the truck, and right before I reach the truck, I see a hen cross a field next to where I parked. I don't think the hen was more than 40 yards from my truck. I didn't see a Tom in tow so at least I'm not completely annoyed. B-week is the complete opposite of my A-week. I'll still think fondly of last week and continue to remind myself: the turkeys giveth, and the turkeys taketh away
  17. you forgot Sluggo's or Ronz on a jig head, which are deadly when they are on sand eels. That seems to be more of a RI to Cape Cod bite, because every time I go up there, they are deadly out fish everything else.
  18. I chose to hit my Home State of New York for the opening day. Heard a bunch of Gobblers. 2 would not commit. 0 for 9 Mornings already. Different Callers tomorrow.
  19. Its best when you catch them in the cast net when youre getting bunker
