I did not look at the wind today before I left because I would be crabbing the back bay. When I got to the ramp I was unsure if I could even launch my 15' crab boat. The waves were crashing and the wind was howling. I said screw it I am already here, and I needed to get my 2024 crab fix started. It honestly was the worse conditions that I ever crabbed in my life. The relentless strong wind out of the North East was actually making 2+ foot waves. My 15' skiff was actually surfing when I had the wind at my stern. Pulling the traps was not easy with the wind against the tide, the lines looked like silly string. After 2 hours I had enough crabs for dinner and then some, plus I had enough of that frigging wind. Another wonderful season has arrived.

I know when I owned my bait and tackle shop, hooked fishing not on drugs was a one night a week thing. Same night every week for most of the summer. The guy running it would come in every week and me and my wife would donate minnows and shiners. He would have the parents and kids meet at different local lakes and ponds each week. Teach the kids how to fish and the different species of fish in each lake. Some of the parents would bring their kids in to get their own bait and fishing gear each week. Really was a great experience for the kids. Each week kids would come in and share pics and stories with me and wife. I think we enjoyed it as much as the kids.

Haha you were right behind us. I joined with 2 guys I had never met before. Glad to see you made the last shot on the Sasquatch lol..but why only 1 arrow did you miss??

I guess the best thing to do then is give it a try ! Lol plenty of good wild streams here and in pa.

At some point in my life I would like to catch just one wild trout. Never tried.

Anyone have experience with hooked on fishing not drugs? I was thinking of signing my 4 year old up as it’s being held locally. Just curious what the day entails as not much info is provided? Not sure if it’s something he will be into vs us just fishing how we normally do. I figured if they had “goodie bags” or giveaways he may get a kick out of it. Thanks.

Last weeks lures vs todays…

Needed a break from big striper gear and stocked trout. Went to my favorite wild trout stream and had a blast with hits, chases , and hook ups in every pool and riffle. Biggest landed was maybe 7in , but had a few chasers that were an easy 14-16 . with these guys its one and done. They take one quick look and either hit it or disappear back into a shadow. landed 6, missed about 20 taps, and had dozens more chase and give me the middle fin.

Sounds like a great hunt. I love the stories! That last pic is awesome.
