  2. Can't keep away from the salt. Hit the beach alone and landed a fat slot striper for the table. Had a pod of Porpoises keep me company before my striper visited. I love all fishing, but the satisfaction and surf experience is becoming increasingly enjoyable.
  3. Nope. The state only publishes numbers after the season, and for specific zones only. Nothing during the season. And nothing about where inside a zone birds are taken. You won't see a map, for example, with dots showing you where individual birds were taken within a zone. (that stuff isn't even part of the harvest report - at most the state has data on the township but that is never published in the after-season reports that I've ever seen). For example, here's the harvest data report for 2022 https://dep.nj.gov/wp-content/uploads/njfw/turkey_harvest_report.pdf

  5. Hey all forgive if a newbie stupid question, but is there a way to see where birds have been taken in a zone? I located a roost, met the Tom two days in a row but he wouldn’t come close enough. Had to wait a week (cause my A permit ended) for new permit C week and wondering if someone else got him, before I waste a morning. Nothing is calling at night I think maybe because of the wet weather. thanks.
  6. Thanks for sharing this! Definitely going to try it.
  7. Get on them. Hope the rain holds out. I’m working tomorrow but planning on being out tues to Friday
  8. Have a charter Friday. Def gonna try it with some striper. Thanks for sharing
  9. Well after eating 2 a week tags and only getting out once during b week due to busy work schedule, I said I was done for the year. That was until I got words of birds on the one farm again sooo I broke my promise to myself🤦‍♂️. Another donation to the state after lookin at this week's weather. Good luck to everybody getting out this week hopefully the weather holds out.
  10. The fresh scallions & ginger make this recipe....incredible flavor. REALLY try this. You will love it
  11. I do similar. I cube the meat. Then when done I put over jasmine rice. Or I brush it with a dill salad dressing. Some coarse fresh ground pepper.
  12. My buddy went fishing in Cape Cod and brought back fresh haddock. I cooked it tonight w my favorite white fish recipe. My roommate in college was Vietnamese and showed me this....HIGHLY recommend trying, as it is fantastic and is great on: striper, sea bass, fluke, monkfish, tog, cod, haddock, halibut, & trout too. Make a tinfoil "boat," put fillet in. Sea salt the fillet, cover w scallions & FRESH peeled slivers of ginger, a squeeze of lemon, a dash of low sodium soy sauce, & a super light drizzle of olive oil or very slight dash of butter, & a splash of water. Put on grill until fish is flaky....you will love it. Promise.

  14. Painted so I can’t tell the maker or the weight but kind of resembles a Ben Pearson. Left handed. Weight feels like 35-40lb. Has a new string. $25 located in Clifton
  15. Yesterday
  16. Bring it.....seriously shooting big gators is a lot of work. You think getting a big bear out of the woods is bad, gators can be a lot worse.
  17. Update... this same property I also hunted Thursday morning. I didn't see or hear a single thing. I just get a text from my buddy this evening, "How was the hunting over here the past week?" I told him the story - "not good, didn't see or hear a single Tom, blah blah blah" He sends me this text just now, "3 Toms, 3 hens behind the building right now." SONAVA!!! And next week I do not have a permit for this zone. But I do for D weeks. I'll have to make it over there a week from now and hopefully they are still around.
  18. Interesting. Usually a 2.75 inch 00 buck has 9 pellets.
  19. Have 4 boxes $40 each union county
  20. I use poly yarn as an indicator. Dorsey yarn make my own, Tied to leader with small rubber band, Orthodontist band . The only thing under should be clear Mono or fluorocarbon. Sometimes I use a piece of Dacron fly line 1 inch tied to leader with a uni knot or nail knot as indicator, But that stays above water, 602020 leader only a guide line you adjust to your set up and river or stream you are fishing. I do my leaders very similar to MG hunter . I also use the mono rig but you need long tippet and sighters do not go in water.
  21. Used it twice. Works great. Chrony model F1. $50 picked up in Clifton
  22. 13 boxes of oo buck 2 2/3” 12 gauge $12 a box union county
