  11. NJDEP Fish & Wildlife is seeking 2 individuals who can represent NJDEP to participate on the Board of Trustees for the Horse Park of New Jersey. The Horse Park of New Jersey at Stone Tavern, Inc., is a nonprofit organization with a mission to develop and promote equestrian activities in the State of New Jersey. The Board is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Horse Park, located on the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area, to ensure they operate within the law governing nonprofits. There are numerous committees (events, fundraising, facilities, etc.) Board members are encouraged to join. These are voluntary positions, and there is no compensation for participation. The Board consists of 18 members: 3 appointed by the Department of Agriculture, 3 appointed by the Department of Environmental Protection, and 12 elected members from the public. The Board holds monthly meetings, usually the last Monday of the month, at the Horse Park from 7-9 pm. Through an interdepartmental agreement in 1977 between the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the NJ Department of Agriculture 185 acres of land from Assunpink Wildlife Management Area was reassigned to the Department of Agriculture to develop a New Jersey Equine Activity Center. In 1988, the Department of Agriculture created a lease with the Horse Park of New Jersey at Stone Tavern, Inc., to operate and maintain the facility. If you have an interest and knowledge in Equestrian activities and are interested in serving on the Board, please complete the application and send a letter outlining your interest, background in equestrian activities, and, if you are a non-NJDEP staff member, how you plan to represent NJDEP’s goals and priorities, to HorseParkNJ@dep.nj.gov.
