  3. Maybe best to wait until his lady’s leave to sit on nest. 10:30 ish on. ☘️
  4. Super fortunate to have a private piece in zone 9 that’s covered up in birds. Killed one in A and another in C.
  5. Personally I am two for three , I thought yesterday was going to be 3 for 3 but I could not get the Tom away from his hens, he hung out about 70 yards away, he talked to be but was not leaving his girls. I will go back again Monday and try to find him early morning,
  6. Yeah, I'm sure private it's fine. My issue is with using them on WMAs... I could never figure out why you can use centerfires on WMAs for predators, but not for woodchucks ... doesn't seem to make sense to me.
  7. O for 5 i did hear birds every day. One day 4 diff Tom’s. 4 diff spots. One day just one heard one Jake 3 times. i had 3 jakes at 7 yds. I had a jake at 38 yds and I had one at 78 in a field. Diff days Diff spots. I Saw very few hens Hope to be out a few more times
  8. The way I read it you are good for center f. From August 1st to March 15 on private. That will be sweet
  9. I was foolishly hoping for Pistol Cartridge Rifle approval and Dove Hunting.
  10. Seen many turkeys in Shop RITE, that's how my season went.....but on a serious note saw one bird while hunting undetermined sex, and never heard a gobble near and far
  11. Today
  12. Mine has been Tough. I have not been Skunked since 1993. I missed one over the Top. I can't miss any days. We will see. I have until May 31st. So how was your Season so far?
  13. Suprised a longbeard didn’t come to see the racket being made. I’ve seen that a few times but the Tom only watched from a distance. Fear of getting jumped I guesss
  14. Thanks. I may be all set, but will let you know. I appreciate the offers and PMs!
  15. Oh shoot back to the drawing board Thanks
  16. If I could afford the extra gear, I would ! I think it would be fun, and challenging. Remember, its .36 caliber and under. You aren't blasting them with a .50 lol Squirrel hunting with flintlocks is popular in some areas of the country.
  17. I was at the southern meeting last year when they discussed APR, and I was very surprised at the vocal opposition that was against removing APR. The vast majority in attendance wanted to keep APR (in fact, some wanted it expanded to other zones). Very few people were for the removal of APR. I wasn't there, but I heard the same opposition to removing APR was also in the northern meeting. Look at the surveys, too - it matches what I saw at the southern meeting. Out of 881 survey responses from those hunting northern APR zones, over 400 were in favor of keeping APR, and only about 110 wanted to get rid it. Out of 1,215 responses from people who hunt southern APR zones, only less than 200 wanted to get rid of APRs. That's why APRs aren't going away.
  18. I don’t like they didn’t lift the ar rule in zone 3. I have 2 or 3 family members That hunt a day or 2 a year back where our dad started us hunting in zone 3 They were excited it may lifted. We see sooo few deer their oh well I can’t believe the got rid of fall turkey. Figured they would just make it males only let’s see if that helps populations i don’t like the small game pheasant change either 8 am was fair
  19. On Thursday, May 16th, the Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2024 legislative session. During this session, the Legislature passed House Joint Resolution 3, encouraging Congress to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act or a similar bill.View the full article
  20. Hi sorry this is a Bowhunt Crossbows are allowed
  21. They just are getting rid of that stupid $2 special predator permit. You still need that stupid $10 rifle permit, but .. if you have that and your firearm hunting license, you're good for centerfire after Jan 1 for daytime predator hunting on WMAs.
  22. Oh, you know what...yeah, you are right. I just went back and re-read that section to find out why they called that out since it was always that way. Turns out, they are increasing the number of predator hunting days! The season is going to be 8 months now. From August 1 to March 15, daytime predator hunting will be allowed with muzzies and modern rifles - but with centerfire rifles, no WMA hunting until after Jan 1. But you can hunt with muzzies on WMAS during the day (which I think is also a change - unless they consider muzzies "centerfire" but they never combined that definition before - and they even separate those out in the slide (see below). They also changed the very confusing shot-size rules, too. I think they made it less confusing, but I'm still confused I'll have to study that later but... looks like the shot-sizes are changing. And I can't tell - but the slide says the "No centerfires on WMAs Aug 1-Dec 31" has this in parens -> "(align with woodchuck)". Well, there was NO centerfire hunting on WMAs at all at any time before. I wonder if that means they are going to allow centerfires for woodchuck on WMAs after Jan 1. That seems to be what it is saying, but I don't know. The wording is weird - if they are aligning this with woodchuck season, that would mean NO centerfire at all on WMAs - but they clearly say you can after Jan 1 for predators Keep an eye on that - it could mean we are allowed .223s for woodchucks on WMAs after Jan 1. That's big for me... I would definitely be doing that. I know a couple spots where I could take advantage of that new rule. Here's the slide with the details - it's still confusing, but looks like overall these are making things better:
  23. looking to be another great season coming by the pictures
  24. That is a beast for sure !
  25. Anyone ever try streamers for the stockers at the Reservation? Bait guys and Spin fisherman have caught with the power baits/worms , but they seem to be ignoring nymphs presently; try a streamer maybe with a decent retrieve rate ?
  26. Andy, that's a fat SOB.....I hope he stays around for you
