    I thought that is federal law, not just NJ, no? i.e. If you buy a handgun out of state, doesn't that gun dealer have to send it to an FFL in your home state. I don't think that's just a NJ thing. (again, this is handguns we're talking about -- long guns are different).

    Thanks for the replies. I have a handgun permit burning a hole in my pocket. I thought I might be able to pick up a handgun in one day. I guess FFL it is.

    Bought a rifle at Cabelas with my points several years ago. It was same day however took a couple hours as it was very busy there

    Pa background checks usually take less then a 1/2 hour. But can take longer when there is high traffic on the system. Which is normally weekends when big guns shows are going on. Know that the weekends of the Oaks shows it can take 2 hours or more

    Long guns, usually same day. Hand guns need to be sent to NJ ffl to do the transfer

    Hi, it's been a few years since I bought a gun at Cabelas in PA. Nowadays in NJ you buy now and pick up a few days later after NICS check. Can you still buy long/hand guns in PA being a NJ resident? Do you have to go back to pickup after NICS?
