  2. Nice! Look at those hills! Is that where you got him. Right on that hillside? I always wondered how turkeys behaved on hillsides like that. Do they hang out a lot on terrain like that? Do you try to call them to go uphill, or downhill?
  3. 60 yards with lead? I would be very skeptical, regardless of choke... I know the fancy blended stuff is good further out but still wouldn't trust it .. besides, what fun is turkey hunting if you are shooting out that far? To me, I like to get them close. At least under 40, but under 30 better. I want to see a show -- I'm turkey hunting, not deer hunting. Anyway, to answer the question: I don't pattern every year. I use the same gun, choke, and ammo and I know my pattern is good for anytime under 40... That's all I'll shoot, so I know I'm good. No need to waste ammo to find out what I already know. If I get a new gun, new choke or different ammo, then I'll pattern.
  4. NJ? If so, north or south?
  5. My gun is patterned to 40. Won’t shoot any further than that. Buts that’s me. I want em in the decoys nice and close.
  6. Nice bird, congratulations!
  7. What would be good antler at this stage? Any pictures?
  8. No sows he will move on seeking a girlfriend
  9. In my opinion be it a turkey gun, deer gun including a shotgun, muzzleloader or rifle take a few shots to confirm
  10. How many take a shot every year to make sure it’s on and what do you guys consider lethal I recently had a friend that wanted me to take him out for B week and I asked if he has a gun and what the pattern looks like and he said oh yeah it’s on it’s a full choke and I asked out to what distance and he responded 60 yards. Now many know 60 yards with a turkey gun is possible but typically it’s fancy ammo a good choke and along with a good sight so I was skeptical and took him out today to my range to take a shot there was barely a pattern at 45 yards let alone 60 so the question is how many guys actually consistently check there guns
