I can hunt 1/2 mile from my house public land but it gets hunted hard with deer & turkey season....lots of deer but very few big deer and when one is seen every local is hunting him

You will feel better and better. I am on zero sugar and very low carbs for over 20 years and you will get to a point, it will take a while, when you will not miss carbs or sugar and crave protein. It will only get better for you. Good luck

That's a fresh batch of minerals put out yesterday mid morning. There is a hole to the left and noticed there is run off going towards a tree to left, a hole is dug exposing the tree's roots

My minerals only looked like that for about the first week when I started them . after that there was a 6-10” hole where they had been . That gets deeper with every new replenishment . only place they stayed on top was a spot with a lot of red clay seems they like the minerals , but the ground there isn’t soaking them in .

Nice! Look at those hills! Is that where you got him. Right on that hillside? I always wondered how turkeys behaved on hillsides like that. Do they hang out a lot on terrain like that? Do you try to call them to go uphill, or downhill?

60 yards with lead? I would be very skeptical, regardless of choke... I know the fancy blended stuff is good further out but still wouldn't trust it .. besides, what fun is turkey hunting if you are shooting out that far? To me, I like to get them close. At least under 40, but under 30 better. I want to see a show -- I'm turkey hunting, not deer hunting. Anyway, to answer the question: I don't pattern every year. I use the same gun, choke, and ammo and I know my pattern is good for anytime under 40... That's all I'll shoot, so I know I'm good. No need to waste ammo to find out what I already know. If I get a new gun, new choke or different ammo, then I'll pattern.
