Went up to change out the battery in my camera this morning, noticed a fair amount of fields aren't even turned over I suspect because of the rains we have been having

I will say it is rare for these encounters and probably less that 5%. So 3 bad ones out of 50 the rest blew out fast. One big boar did not like us in his territory and same bear ripped down and destroyed 3 cams within a mile and a groundblind and treestand.

They are wild animals, you just never know. I have been followed and mock charged and put in check a few times. Just recently me and hunting buddy locked eyes with a big boar and both yelled screamed to warn him and he just kept coming closing distance and we had a dog with us. He slowly veered after i banged the treestand with an axe but he had closed in to about 40 yards A young bear followed me for a mile until i hit railroad tracks. Not good feeling to get followed. I had screaming cubs while scouting a swamp and mom running at me and snapping. You just never know. These encounters werr all deep in woods.

Fred has struck out 9 Mornings in Northren,NJ. And all 16 Mornings in a Row so far in New York. One Morning ,I hunted both States. Tough Season so far. 2 Reasons. Very Pressured Public and in Orange County- an extremely high Hen Turkey Population. Back in 2015- NYDEC Totally changed the Fall Turkey Format in huge NY Zones 3 + 4 in 3ways to increase the Turkey Population. And increase it did- especially the Hen Turkeys- which is great. 1. Slash the Bag Limit of 2 Fall Turkeys to 1. 2. The Season opening date of October 1st with everything else like Pheasant Hunting- was pushed back 3 weeks to late October. ( You would be surprised that a good Pheasant Dog will put all Unpressured Turkey Flocks into the air. ) And many Pheasant Hunters were very successful at killing flying Turkeys. 3. And cut the Fall Turkey Length of Season from 6 weeks to 2 Weeks. 10 years later- a Very High Hen Turkey Population. Perhaps it is time for both NY and NJ to drop their Fall Turkey Seasons for the good of the Wild Turkey. You guys here would be surprised how many members on nywoodsandwaters want the Spring Take cut from 2 Turkeys to just 1 Gobbler.-- That would be a huge Mistake. Cut the Fall Season first. Anyway this year in North,NJ,Iheard alot more Birds than last year. So it seems the Population is increasing some.
