Every deer we have shot with the 220 has not taken another step. One of my favorites in the safe. WVAhunter08
Yes, but get accutips. I got one last year and could not get consistent groupings with Barnes vortex. Bones

I can shoot great 150 yard groups with the 220. I will be trying Barnes and Accutips in my 12 gauge this season now that I've switched from Lightfields. nmc02

FDhunt1213
Me and some buddies have shot 12” steel out to 350 yards with the savage 220 it’s unbelievably accurate. Mine shoots sub 3/4” groups (almost same hole) at 100 yards with both accutips and Barnes. Also shoots my hand loads which are essentially copper solids particularly well. The gun is worth it !! NJDeerNBeer
Mine has a cycling issue. Otherwise its good gun very accurate so shouldn't need a second round
MGHunter66
If you already have an H&R save your money. There is nothing special that the 220 will do over it. Farmshine, archer36, Bubba254 and 2 others 3 2 AWM
Jcol6268
I’ve wanted to get one, but the way finding ammo is for the 20 gauge, I’ve put it off
