Public Service Announcement for men over 40

Please get your prostate checked through a PSA test.its a simple blood test to check for prostate cancer.1 in 7 men get it. very treatable when caught early.

I unfortunately  have  stage 4 advanced prostate cancer ,with no symptoms.So please get the simple and easy checks as soon as you hit 40.

I wasnt going to tell people,since it was my problem.But then i realized it might be someone elses problem.Just wanted to bring awareness to the number 2 cancer killer of men.

Since this is generally  a male forum and there is alot of older men here.that is why im bringing it up

Sorry to hear that, I hate cancer. I don’t think there’s any more incentive to get tested then from hearing something like this.

I know 2 people,family and close friend, that were treated and cured.   Hope all goes well for you too.  I have a high PSA, got tested for cancer and it was negative.  Doc still wanted to scope after I had many other tests done to avoid being probed.  Covid hit and I stopped going.   My father also had a high PSA and went through multiple scopes that resulted in clogs later in life from scarring that often had to be cleared.  Best wishes for a quick recovery and it is something we should all be concerned about.

Sorry to hear this news mmfan. Hope doctors can help you with treatment. I have a few friends going thru similar issues if u need to grab their ear….2 pals around 60 yrs old had aggressive kind and had surgery to remove prostate. Another pal is 80+ yrs old and just been treating it w radiation.  Good luck and thanks for the reminder to get checked!

And you are so correct about getting tested.  It's a simple blood test now, no more finger up the butt, so there's no reason not to make this a regular part of your blood work.

Can’t imagine your yearly physical with blood work does not include PSA. If it doesn’t ask for it or better yet change your doctor.

I get mine done with my other blood work I have to get every year. Good luck hope it all works out

To be safe about it. have the PSA  and the manual test. the doc could find a lump or hardness which could be cancerous

Then I think PSA test would show it as well.
