I’ve seen what seems like a 99% drop in lantern flies this year. Staggering how few there are now

Haven't had many here is South Plainfield, but I was at PNC Arts Center last weekend, and they were everywhere. Really strange.

They move in waves. Horrible the first time they hit your area and not too bad after that it seems.

Yellow Jackets are killing them as well.

We had them bad at the shore a few weeks ago 
was getting thousands a day on sticky tape 

besides spraying thousands on two trees 

only seeing a few a day now .

Just like how often old people have sex - depends!  If you are unlucky enough to have a 'Tree of Heaven" nearby you will be swarmed because this is its primary host tree.  We have some on our property and it took 3 years of aggressive and absolutely ruthless measures to kill those trees and the commensurate numbers of these pests.
