I will probably only hunt Saturday of six day this year. I'm using my vacation days for permit bow and the first 2 days of muzzleloader.

I will probably use my grandfather's 1100 magnum with 3' Federal Premium 00 Buck

Went from a 12 Ga single Shot Stevens to a Win. Side by Side 12 Ga - Bereta 12 ga OU Silver Snipe to a Rem. 12ga 1100 for the most years to a 55Cal BP Round Ball Only no Scope Green Mountain By Dixion PA. All did a good job but for the Bereta, Real Crap Back than in the 60s But went to the 55 Cal. BP The Deadliest by far. 100 YD not out of the Question but most shot within 50YDs.  No Hailmarys.

I rarely ever take the shotgun out anymore.  If I do, it's just a Mossberg 500, rifled barrel.  The Federal Vital-Shok slugs are cheap and they shoot awesome out of that gun, so I have stuck with those.  Maybe one day I'll sell some rifles and buy a dedicated slug gun for NJ

Remington 870 with cantilever, rifled barrel and Nikon optics shooting Hornady SSTs.  For me, it could easily be a bear or buck that walks past, so no archery for me during 6 Day.
