First time out w my flintlock

I have a cabin in NE Pennsylvania that I have hunted there for over 20 years. Pa recently lengthened their flintlock season to nearly five weeks and a buddy urged me to purchase a flintlock muzzleloader. So I did. I purchased one this past Spring and learned how to shoot it,  clean it, etc. Three of us decided to go hunt w our flintlocks this past Monday & Tuesday. I decided that I would not be picky and if I had an opportunity at a legal deer, I would shoot at my first legal deer. I got in stand at 1 pm on Monday and was super excited! At 3 pm a group of doe make their way to me and I aim at the lead doe, pull the trigger, and SMOKE...I wasn't sure if I connected at first. However, saw her drop at 40 yds. It was a great hunt and look forward to doing it every year.

My friend who moved to PA has been a rifle connoisseur for years. He has more high powered centerfires than anyone I know. Went to the range like twice a week. Once he bought a flintlock to hunt the centerfires are collecting dust. He loved the PA flintlock hunting

Yes. 90 grains of powder w patch and .490 round ball.

Congrats!  I have been hunting with my Lyman deerstalker off and on but recently I find myself taking the inline  more often as I still have to fill the freezer...I limit myself to 50 yards with the flintlock. Hope to drop a fat doe soon so I can take the flintlock back out a few more times. Nice piece you’ve got there and great shot!
