DIY Deer Mount

Well I ended up taking a decent 8pt a week ago, and decided to skull mount it. I picked all what I could off the head, before simmering it for about 5 hours. I then degreased for another hour.

Today I mixed up the Vol 40 and some other stuff for bleaching hair, applied the paste and let it sit for 8 hours. I wasn’t going for the pale white look, as I wanted it to look somewhat natural. With the skull marinating, I took a ride to my in-laws where they have an old fence in the woods and cut a section out. I then took some grass and used a wire staple and applied it to the back. I found an old sign, cut it up to fit just right for more decoration.

In all I have about $24 dollars into it. Came out exactly what was in my head. Time probably about 3 hours, as when it was boiling, and marinating I was able to accomplish other chores. Here are some pics.
