How did everyone’s trapping season go?

Recommended Posts

Not Nj anymore.  But another satisfying run here.  Unfortunately coyotes have found us here now, but they were surprisingly decent.. better than most I caught up there.  Only had 1 I wouldn’t skin sue to mange.  Put up the last of the fox after most got sent out west for an auction.  Limited out on otters early and another good year on beaver.  Rat season has been extended a week.  Started biting here now though.

I just trapped mainly on property that I turkey hunt and alittle here and there.

Two highlights of my season were the pa. Cat that I caught on the first night I set and with only one day left in the season and a Fisher in N.J. that ended up being the first Fisher tagged and collared for New Jerseys Fisher study.

Pretty neat animals....still have never seen a fisher in the wild.

Ended up with 10 coon mostly big boars ( last year all small sows for some reason) and 4 fox. Noticed if I set right on a sandy creek bank I get the big boar coons and if I set the small game trails off the banks like 50+ yards away I get the sows. Maybe it’s just me. Also learned the hard way how much small creeks and rivers rise when it rains hard the night before. I wear hip waders and may or may not have gotten soaked a time or two. Tried for coyote with no luck but I did find some on trail camera for the first time thanks to some tips from some of the guys on here. Y’all know who you are, thanks

I didn’t trap much. Set 3 nights for beaver and got 6. Pulled after that. Then I made a couple sets for the ever elusive north Jersey gray fox. Ended up catching 4 grinners 1 skunk  and wait for it, a bobcat. Shocking, right? With only a couple days left in the season I set 3 DP’s and caught 2 coon. That’s all for me this year.
