Matildas first deer hunt

Taking my 5 year old in a blind tonight.  Not expecting much in the way of deer sightings but first one in might be in trouble

My Kid was 3.5 years old when we shot our 1st deer together at 16yrds I was told by everyone don't set you expectations high. 

Bring snacks, marshmallows and gummy bears are great because they are quite lol.

I always brought crayons and a coloring book for my kids. That extended the time in the blind. Enjoy the hunt.

Like the others have said. Bring crayons, tablet, snacks, etc. depending on age. When they are ready to leave, leave. Keep it as a fun experience. Mine was 14 when she asked to go.

few years ago on Columbus Day. Bear opener.  My daugher and I sat in a blind.   I was ready to go at 930.  She said “ we can’t leave yet.  We didn’t kill one “.    Lol 

 

we left at 945.  Went to the dinner.  She was asleep in the car 30 seconds after breakfast.    Embrace the memories u make with family

Goodluck ! Glad to see others take thier young kids. My kids both started coming at 2yrs old. Hunting with them is hard- but much more rewarding to make the memories than leaving them home. You will have a blast. Just remember she is 3 so keep your expectations low lol.
