Got this buck on camera for the first time on Friday morning, 9:30AM. Of course, I'm in a stand on the other side of my farm. Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, in the rain, no buck. Get in the same tree on Sunday morning, its warm, eventual sun, and nothing moving. About 9:25 I see movement to my right and quickly see the tall rack following the stonewall which will put him just at 40 yards when I can shoot. He gets into the opening and I stop him with a "meh"...... but I can't find him in the scope due to the bright sun. Two more steps, I stop him again, in front of some trees....no shot. I'm thinking....how much harassment is this deer going to take? A few more steps and he's clear, so I stop him again. This time I touch off the shot and the Rage Hypodermic is on its way. Immediately, I see blood pumping from his chest as he crosses the stone wall directly into a tree, changing his direction where he crosses the stone wall one last time. He expires only 40 yards from the hit and I can see him clearly. After the brother arrives about 30 minutes later, we recover the arrow, and follow the trail to the bloody tree which looks like "Wilson" from Castaway or even the "Punisher". Needless to say, I'm surprised he has no brow tines. A trophy nonetheless. Thanks for looking.
