I didn't come from a hunting/shooting family, so my first rifle came from the Army, too. lol

Later in the 80's, I bought a Rem 700 in .308. I figured a good caliber for Pa Whitetails and fun at the range. Still gets family use.

I also have a Remington 700 in 3006 that I used to use in S Dakota, I currently use a sporterized Mosin Nagant in 762.54R that I reload  rounds for, it has a bent bolt and Boyd's synthetic stock with a Leupold VXII 3x9, Excellent shooting gun that has taken many NY deer over the years. Every time I pull the trigger I think about the history of the gun and wonder what the history of the gun was.

winchester  model 62 22 cal slide action. got it for christmas. it was bought at the tackle box in garfield nj from binkie wilson and his partners jake and lenney. i was 16 now 84 and still have it, and my grandson shoots it when he comes up from md.

When I was a kid my first rifle was my uncles 8mm Mauser mannlicher.  At 18 my first purchase was a 10/22.
