No wonder I didn't get a Turkey last year but I can't keep them away from my Truck.

If you relied on "playing the wind" you would need at least 4 stands. Even if you did, are you going to get out of a stand and move to another mid hunt if the wind shifts? How do you know when and if it will shift again? That's worse then staying put.

I have 7-9 stands set up to be able to play the wind every time. And yes, I’ve moved stands when winds shift direction.  Once you educate a deer with your scent, they will approach your stand area with lots more caution from then on. Best not to do that and be prepared to use the stand best suited for your wind.

I have the same stuff on my clothes and boots.

Pics psh... smh You show some pics.  Not jh I'm sure everyone sick of seeing his semi wild buck that was use to seeing, smelling and hearing people.

I got nothing to prove Nick. You do. Talk is cheap. I could show you 20 mounts all fair chase all mature deer that all required the perfect wind - especially my biggest. That never would have been possible without a wind that was just slightly to my advantage.  5 more steps west he would have smelled me but the arrow was already on the way - game over. You will not find any mature buck hunter in any state that kills constantly that does not put wind direction as # 1 factor in all aspects of the hunt strategy. (Stand or blind hunting to be specific). To even think otherwise is pure ignorance.

I don't need to prove anything either.

I don't hunt in stands I hunt from the ground.  I go wherever I want whenever I want and don't give a damn about the wind.  Why? Because the deer don't smell me and also like the smell of the extracts.  You can see by the pics that I posted that they are drawn to the smell.

Sometimes I just go to a spot that I've only seen on infrared aerial photos and never checked out and never had a problem.

I have the stuff on me too!  Not just on trees.  I've had deer walk right up to me within feet of me with the wind blowing directly to the deer and they stand there looking at me sniffing and eventually walk away.

No houses nearby, completely wild deer, no bait and I'm supposed to prove something to you?  If you don't want to believe it don't!  I really dont care.

I don't doubt trying to use the wind to your advantage is a good tool in the box, it's the practicality of it. Killing big deer (if that's your sole purpose in hunting) requires many things. The right land, the right conditions, the right equipment. If you have a great piece of land, you will kill a big buck because it will make a mistake sooner or later, especially in the rut. No one can read a deer's mind. A lot of what you hear is stuff that's been repeated over and over for decades so it becomes fact. It's sort of like mask wearing. It may be effective or maybe not. Why take a chance?

Heads on the wall are no indication of hunting expertise. You can either afford high priced guided hunts or have a great piece of land to get them.  No other factors can affect success more than those two things. A bumbling idiot will kill deer on the right property.

I have permission for a piece that the owner hunts and I basically gave up on it because he just hunts wich is fine but the bigger  dissappear after he hunts 3 or 4 times.  He hunts any wind and troops around alot.

It has taken me a few years to get it bit the last few years I see most of the bucks I get on cam where in the past I had a hard time.  Only hunting the right winds and paying attention to entry

I tried everything out there. The only thing working consistently is steady wind. It tells me where I should hunt.
ozonics was the worse. I had this spot where this mature doe would bring the herd within 50 yards of me before smelling me and changing direction. I bought ozonics. She was snorting from 100 yards away. Twice I tried with same results and I returned it

Yeah, I hear you. Both pieces of property I hunt are farms that get depredation permits. You can hunt the wind all you want and it won't make a difference. LOL.

I know a guy who  baits daily but he only uses maybe a pound a day and walks all over throwing a handful here and a handful there.  He brings clothes, socks, ect and leaves them there for a while replacing them now and then.  His scent is all over the place constantly, much like those who hunt residential deer living close to people.  He kills deer every season every year and has gotten some nice bucks.

As far as pics go here's one for you all to salivate over.  It might be the only deer you see this year if you don't go thru jh's ridiculous scent control routine,
