Father's Day Blues

JFC1

Recommended Posts

My spring fishing has been a little difficult due to a medical issue, but I got cleared 2 days ago and promptly went out all night long for stripers in the back bay. Got skunked my first night back. But the blues came in early today, for a Happy Father's Day and return to catching! I hooked into 10-12 gators, landed 7. Biggest kept was 35", 11lbs

If you bleed them out well and get them into ice quickly they're just about the best fried fish...

And here's an awesome blue chowder recipe. Seriously

Same with Spanish makeral and Bonita bleed them get them in an ice slurry fast and they make great sushi.  I don't care for bluefish at all except fish cakes

Cheeks are ok.  Bleeding any fish helps tremendously, then immediately on ice.

My eating list for local fish:

  1. blackfish
  2. mako
  3. tuna
  4. sea bass
  5. mahi
  6. winter flounder
  7. summer flounder

...

    97. Penzoil
    98. Quaker State
    99. bluefish

I don't know how you guys eat bluefish unless they're masked with a lot of seasoning or maybe the little snappers.  Those big gators :vomit:
