Love when people throw the state police card out....not sure what you do for work, but guys do not want more work. State police do not want to do work (unless it's overtime) outside areas they cover. BTW, all certified NJ officers have authority EVERYWHERE in NJ w few exceptions (casinos, etc). So a NJSP officer has the same authority as a municipal or county officer

It’s not a card. When you Have an issue that your local department wants to ignore, the state police address it. For example, if I were a resident in Hamburg and owned land that an officer or members of the FD felt as though they could trespass on….I would call the state police if the local authority decided not to address it. Bc let’s be honest, an officer certainly doesn’t want to show up and make a report on someone he works with right?

If you lived in Hamburg and called the NJSP...they would laugh at you, then hang up. If you were unhappy w the service of the local pd you would not get anywhere by contacting the NJSP. This is not an insult to the NJSP...they simply are not coming into a jurisdiction w a police department. Your only recourse would be to call the county prosecutor's office and complain about the service of the local pd. Matter of fact, many NJSP stations deal mostly w traffic & mva reports. Those who do not know are surprised to know that the Sussex & Hope NJSP station are the busiest stations in NJ because they cover some areas without local PDS.

NJSP have come out twice for me personally. Once in tewksbury (they have a department). And once in Sparta (also have a department). Both times for “locals”.Tewksbury was a council man who didn’t like me hunting a property next to him. Sparta was for an officer who lived next to a private piece I had permission on.  Both times, the issues magically went away. So in the case of the OP, we don’t know the exact details as the actual facts aren’t known to us. However if it is as described, then it should be addressed. Nobody is “special”.

I do. I have no reason to type out fairy tales. My only point was contact someone else if this is an issue. The options for the OP is to either leave and hunt somewhere else, or push back. Realistically I think that we all want to go out and hunt and not have to deal with nonsense. Whether that be a local cop in this case (if that’s even true) another hunter stealing gear or an anti hunter. We are our own biggest enemy at the end of the day. A lot of dumb shit takes place for a deer.  Big picture, there’s more important things to worry about.

A guy was hunting. Another guy didn’t like it. During the scuffle clothes came off and now we’re missing car keys.

Hope he didn't lose his wallet. Do you know how hard it is to try and remember all the stuff that was in it that has to be replaced?

And according to the story we've gotten so far, one of the guys who lost his clothes owns another set of clothes. A special one that grants him certain authority at times, and may or may not have infringed on the rights of the OP. Multiple posters here are interested in what authority the man with the special clothes has, how he gets it, what he does with it, and how that impacts all of us. This makes it an important thread.
