They were nicer to look at than SXS and were not your Grandpa's gun.

I try to take something different every time I go.
Cz 20ga
Browning gold 20ga
1950 Belgium browning a5 26" ic
Early 1950s rem 48 mohawk 26ic
Mossberg 500 trap gun 12ga
Early 1950 Winchester model 12
S&w 20ga auto
Just a few that I like to get out and use and all shoot good.

I owned a Browning BSS (side by side) in 20 ga. Fixed I/C and Mod choke.  Killed tons of Pheasant with it over the past 40 years. The best upland gun I ever shot. Sold it because the value was up and don't do a lot of Pheasant hunting anymore. Now I use my Franchi O/U in 12 or 20, or a Beretta Semi. None of them have the feel and swing of the SXS. O/U's became the craze. They were nicer to look at than SXS and were not your Grandpa's gun.

Shoot what fits you.

I own the same gun....Browning bss. Great gun.

Nice guns, but I know a grandpop with 12 & 20 Parkers, 12 Ga LC Smith, and 12 Ga Belgium Browning just to mention a few that some grand kids will be happy to get some day.

depends on where.

Out west - 12 ga - don't care O/U, SXS, or semi

Stocked - 20ga o/u or sxs - why carry the weight

I have always been a double barrel shotgun guy for all upland birds. Been bird hunting for 55 years. Started with a borrowed 12 gauge at 14. Bought my first one at 16; a 12 gauge Stevens 311. Used that for a number of years until I could afford others. Never owned a semi-auto. Used a pump for one year about 40 years ago; didn’t like it and stuck with doubles ever since then. I have 10 modern light weight hunting model O/Us and SxSs I use for pheasant hunting. O/Us are  four Berettas, one 12 gauge and three 20 gauge; three Browning Citori , two 16 gauge and one 20 gauge. Three SxSs: a 20 gauge CZ Bobwhite, a 20 gauge Beretta and a 20 gauge Ugartechea. I also have four American Classic SxSs: Parker, A. H. Fox and L. C. Smith in 12 gauge and a Lefever Nitro Special in 16 gauge. All these doubles work well on pheasants. I have three 28 gauge doubles that I only use for grouse and chukars.
