Go to toyota dealership for oil change,  rotate tires .  Service advisor comes out and says technican highly recommends you changing your spark plugs for $799.!  Really? Is my response, my plugs where just changed at 100,000 miles and I only have 115,000 miles now!!!!

I asked to speak to technician who recommend this service,  he was on lunch break unable to speak to me.

Just always be ongaurd

Somethings never change .

I heard technicians and service departments have been on commission or incentivized to recommend additional work.  IDK but they are always pushing work despite owner manual maintenance interval recommendations. once our cars are off warranty, we go to a trusted local shop.

My dealership got sold (Smith Ford in Washington Warren  County) and Fred Beans took over.  I went in for an oil change and tire rotation aka "the works" and is usually $50.  Beans told me $89.95, when I mentioned it was $50 the last time I was there they dropped the price to $50.

Anyone know a good mechanic near Washington?  I'm in Asbury.

We are all entitled to our opinions . And commenting in all caps doesn’t make your opinion any more valid..

All caps were intended to shout out the message, Not all dealers are scum bags ! There are a lot of reputable dealers, if you found a bad one start looking around for a good one,  there are just as many private shops good and bad also.

Rick Allen in Hampton. Expensive but honest and I never had any issues with repairs done there.

Reed's in Hampton behind the liquor store on 31 is OK.  No Saturday or Sunday.  Burdges behind Mavis on 31, the U-Haul dealer.  If you can talk him into it.  Your best bet is if you can do it yourself.  Good Luck

“Bad one”….. I’ve dealt with dozens through the years from you mom and pop used lots to the nicest BMW ones. All have the same thing in common when it comes to sales and service and it’s to rip you off but some are slicker and more professional in their approach.
