What's it take for you to sight in, days, weeks? Only takes a few shots and can be good. It's not rocket science . Today is nice and you don't know if he got a used set up that is sighted in already and got everything with it. All he has to do is shoot it to check and confirm and make any adjustments if needed.

Iron sights with a Hawken is deadly accurate. An in-line with fiber optic sights ain't far behind

Should take no more than a few hours.  Maybe he's an experienced shooter. Than it should take less time than that.

It is odd that NJ is one of the few states that sees bb & black powder as firearms. No nics, but must go through ffl per NJ. However, atf says not a firearm.

You may be right.  But its a grey area because purchased legally no?  I never thought about it because I have a fid.

Would it not fall under one of the exceptions.

How? If you purchase a gun legally outside of nj AND the gun is legal to possess in NJ there is no law broken. A fid is used to purchase guns in nj.
