Broadhead recommendments for 40# Recurve

I'm in the process of aquiring a recurve through trade for a muzzloader.

What broadheads are traditional bow hunters using these days.

The last I hunted with a recurve I used Bear Razorheads without the bleeder blade. (Just like Burt Renolyds in Deliverance)

I assume there are better traditional broadheads these days.

@Gobblengrunt will steer you in the right direction, as the recurve is his thing.

His wall and stacked collection of P&Y bucks do not lie...:shock:

Usually buy goldtip blemished arrows from bigjimsbowcompany.com but I don't see any available now.

45lb (if your draw length is 27-28" you will probably need a 500 spine arrow.)

I been using all these^ in 175 grain. 100 grain brass inserts as well..

As far as brands you have many to choose from. The head should be COC (cut on contact) as opposed to a "bone crushing" head. It should be fairly small diameter (1 1/4" or less). It should have up to three blades. A 4 blade head with small bleeders is OK. It should have a gradual taper, not a severe angle on the blades. All of these factors will optimize penetration which is your main issue shooting a bow with low KE such as you mentioned. Broadhead flight should not be an issue since your bow will have very low FPS.

all good advice - you can't go wrong with a magnus or anything VPA makes...  A simple, 2 blade magnus stinger (no bleeders) would probably be about your best option overall.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…
