New wood stove is in!

After about a year of tossing the idea around ( because of cost) my wife and I pulled the trigger on having a useless fireplace updated with a wood stove insert...came out great! I can't wait to use it this winter..I took a few pictures along the way ...it took 4 days over a 2 week period  to install everything, ( because of inspections) I had them replace my furnace flu too while they where in there and it was easy to get at....and yes thanks to you guys I did end up staining and finishing the mantel my self.

looks great - enjoy the heat and ambience it will bring...

If that is a vaulted ceiling, if you don't already have a large paddled ceiling fan to help keep the heat down and distributed, that should be your next expense.

That came out awesome. You are going to love the new source of heat and will notice a huge difference from the fireplace. Like you said, they look nice but not for heating. Love the stone work.

I was scrolling down slowly picture by picture and I was like, "pretty neat, yeah, ok, that's kinda cool.. kinda interesting, meh, the framing is up.... "

And then I finally got down to the next-to-last pic where you have the stone in place with the mantle and I stopped and was like "Oooooo, Wow! That is REALLY nice!"  

Pretty cool before and after pix - the end result is really, really nice.
