First Gray fox

The grey is native to north america, the red is not, it was introduced by Europeans for sport hunting as the Grey's wouldn't run from the hounds but would hole up.

I personally would rather have the Grey's

Back in the early 90s I caught almost 50/50 reds/greys.

Haven't caught a grey in three years

When i was a kid it was probably 85/15 Grays to Reds when my dad trapped. Not many reds then but now reds are EVERYWHERES.

I know little about trapping and fox - but when I first started hunting my slice of Z5 Fredon Township in 2002, through about 2012, I saw a lot of grey fox, and yes, one freaked me out when I saw it stretching half way up a small tree. I have not seen one in several years, and I have never seen more reds. I see reds all hours of the day, they aren't just nocturnal.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…
