First Gray fox

I have a good number of gray fox but not many reds But I know a lot of the farms around me are trapped and the trappers are doing really well on reds from what they tell me. But not grays go figure. But on any given night I get the grays on my cams regularly. Just like this tail shot picture two days ago. if I look close at my pictures one almost always passes bye. They are a cool beautiful critter. I will hunt them soon. But for know still bow hunting. But if one offers a bow shot I'm taking it.

Yup. First one has holes in it so i got a new for the bear season early this year. I keep one and the farm i trap. Works great for dragging the fox out plus i use it carry decoys when we goose hunt

Nice!! Congrats!! I've only seen 1 Grey fox while deer hunting, they sure are cool looking!!

The large ones are to bigger for most things i do. Used one last year helping ge a buddys bear out of the woods and the large sled is not made for thicker woods. Had a hell time getting through the swamp.

Years ago(the late 70's)  when I trapped a lot with my son we always seemed to get more Grey's than Red's. The Red's brought from $70 to $90 but the Grey's were only $35 to $40. In either case it was a lot of money in those days.  Miss the trapping but enjoy the posts.

All are Grey's except two on the ground, and maybe one on the rail and one on a basket.

Nice pic GG. That's even before my time. LOL What year is it?  

 

I do remember in the 50's when we kids caught a fox that we got a bounty for it by bringing in the ears to the township clerk. I think it was $2.00.

He trapped for fish and game....state land and wma's in northern nj and complaints though out the state
