goosin' 4-man limit

Recommended Posts

I miss those days. Between the limits reduced and the lack of migratory geese in my area, I gave it up 5 years ago. Used to be lights out hunting all the time. I used to look forward to goose hunting to take a break from deer. I hope it comes back again.

Nice, I have not set up for geese since they lowered the daily limit to 1.  Nice shooting !   Are they bigfoot decoys ?

Half of them are Big Foots, the other half I don't know the brand (they are my buddies dekes, I really only use silos now, but he likes to bring out his full bodies just to fill out the spread a little more).

Excellent!

We're having a tough time with them this year.  They all land in the pond on the farm next to where I can hunt.

We actually have permission on two fields here - one across the street and this one. The one across the street - if we try to hunt that this year, we'd be watching them from afar as they all land on this field :)... birds just all want to land here and will not come across the street. So, yeah, unless you are on the X, it can be very frustrating.

We are very blessed to have access to these fields; unfortunately, they are currently under contract to a developer and we most likely are losing access next year. So we gotta make it count this year.

Just cause people aren’t posting doesn’t mean they aren’t killing. Most waterfowl posts in forums always turned to crap over last 10-15 years in forums and most realized it was easier not to deal with it. So they bicker on fb instead of forums lol.

Id be surprised if the limit raise resurrected hunters considering so many in the region sold off equipment when we went the other way. I’ve barely gone for Canadas this season even with raised limit but we’ve shot our limits the times we’ve gone. Just doesn’t get the juice flowing like it used to.

Here are a few pictures from this season. We start in NY with the early season. I have been hunting with a few of these guys for over ten years. This is all free lance hunting.  A few of the hunts we took the land owners with us. The early season my group ended the week with 325 geese.
Went back a few weeks later for the regular season and shot 60.
The rest of the time has been hunting in NJ.
None of this is possible without the teamwork that goes into every aspect of the hunt. From calling, decoys, blinds, scouting and processing the birds.
