Bittersweet...

Once in a lifetime I do believe, I went back and forth on posting him.

He's a beautiful deer and felt I should share. 

I've "known" him since 2020 when he was born. 

They started working where he lived and he started moving far crossing highways and such.

Always coming "home",  I've heard stories of people seeing him and feeding him since I've shot him,  as foolish as I am I honestly thought I was the only one that knew of him.

Last year could have shot him any day I wanted but had no desire. Honestly thought he was safe. 

With all the stories of how "everyone" saw him he was the most slow moving and cautious deer in the woods. 

The evening I shot him I had a 7pt in and out in all of 3 minutes could have been shot any time or way in those 3 minutes.

 When he came in it took him 26 minutes to move 8'  yes felt like eternity that's why he will be getting a semi sneak shoulder mount, having everything else tanned, I don't have the room or money for a full mount.

Taking him was a true bittersweet sweet accomplishment,  it could have happened years ago but always pushed off. As I said this year with all the movement I felt it was time.

I've killed a lot of deer in my life but, this was the first time I sat and had a  long  conversation with after his leaving. 

He went out with respect not even reacting to the shot and only going 15' after the hit where he laid down in under seconds. 

It sucked with weather temps and night coming and my other kid at a sleepover.

I don't take "hero" pictures with animals I've killed I always have my kids or dogs in pictures.

Nothing against them just not my thing.

Anyways had to move quickly and faster than I wished but, had to do what needed so nothing would go to waste.

Even tho a full mount is a bite expensive a deer of that unquietness and history deserves a full mount ,  Congrats on a outstanding buck.
