Bought a shotgun at the Christiana Cabela's two weeks ago.

Out the door with it in 40 minutes.

C'mon New Jersey, you can do better.

I had it shipped from their Ft. Meyers, Fl. store, so paid Fl. sales tax, but shipping was free.

Shouldn't even have this .. the federal nics should handle everyone.... Hate that states are allowed to make up additional rules

I agree.

Still, other states that do it the same way we do ... devote the needed resources to do it correctly/timely. Our people in Trenton consider our Constitution Right to be merely an unavoidable annoyance. Hopefully a Governor Ciattarelli can make some changes.

I have no faith in Ciattarelli like I have no faith in Kean Jr when it comes to our 2nd Amendment Rights

Not sure what you mean by additional rules. In PA we use PICS. Now there isa HUGE debate on PICS vs NICS. PIC is Pennsylvania and becomes state vs feds to deal where as NIC is just state police using federal system.

I purchased a H001L last Friday. Took me maybe 15 min.

In NJ, our FFLs go through the state of NJ when doing background checks (we call it a NICS check, but it is more than that - the state police perform other tasks over and above what the federal NICS check does). So we are beholden to the state of NJ for them to do these checks, and do them timely.  But my experience from the past few years is that this takes days, not minutes (apparently, it isn't any better today than the last couple times I went through this).

So you not only have to apply for a FID card, the state also does more that NICS and charges you for it?

GLAD I MOVED IN 06

NICS is national instant check system.
