Correct, with an exemption for a Law Enforcement Officer hired between the age of 18-20 to obtain a handgun permit

Might be about to change given recent ruling.

FPC  - "Without either the first or second amendment, we would have no liberty; the first allows us to find out what's happening, the second allows us to do something about it! The second will be taken away first, followed by the first and then the rest of our freedoms." - Andrew Ford

Yup, looks like 18 year olds will be able to secure a pistol permit soon.

Great news but not so fast. Biden’s Justice Department has already said it disagrees with the decision and is “considering options”. They can appeal the 4th Circuit US Court of Appeals’ 3 judge panel’s decision to the Full Circuit to rehear the case.

in nj up to oct. 2018 you could get both fid and handgun permit at 18 ... but you could not buy a handgun from a ffl dealer until you were 21 do to fed law (you could buy a used one from someone in nj  )...   now oct. 2018 and everything goes through ffl  means 21 yrs old

I hope they do so that it becomes a SCOTUS heard case and the outcome, which I believe will be highly favorable, will become the law of the land.

Incorrect. It was always 21 for a handgun unless the applicant was a sworn law enforcement officer hired before the age of 21. The October 2018 laws brought in all sales to go through FFL unless it met certain criteria. It also repealed the mag limit on 22 rimfires with tubular mags and put handgun mags to 10 rounds. It had nothing to do with the age to get a handgun permit

Nope. Go read the bill that was signed into law that you quoted. A2757 and A2761 that Gov. Murphy signed June 13, 2018 and went into effect Oct 1, 2018. Also refer to 2C:58-3. c(4)
