Are you still a farrier?

I still do a few . But my normal job as an electrician consumes too much time .
38 years doing that come July .

Was reason for my user name .

Looked like a great way to secure some primo hunting spots also . How did you get into being a farrier Dan ?

I competed on cutting horses and team penning horses in the 90’s.
had a horse  that was bad footed . Another farrier said I was using a bad farrier and said he would teach me .
worked  for him and then the captain of the US farriers team and became a second full time job.
Mostly stopped doing it to start charter business .
only so many hours in the day

I always thought farrier was one of the coolest jobs out there.  Not much cooler than a blacksmith that plays with horses

Great paying job .
just rough on your body when your tall . Horses want their feet kept low ..

and if your hot shoeing you always smell like a fire .

 i always thought you were a carpenter with hammer in your name. pretty cool you use to be a farrier. a farrier was probably one of the highest paying jobs back in the days before vehicles? at least as far as the trades go. i would have to assume a blacksmith was just above a farrier.
