Who’s skipping opening day of trout?

I’ll be out with some friends. I avoid bridge holes like they all have the plague.  Soon, hatches will be popping with regularity and dry fly fishing will be mainly in the afternoon and evening. That’s the best part of the season for me, especially out of state for big, wild fish.

Hadn't gone on opening day for a long time, then went one year and reminded myself why I don't go opening day.  Haven't gone again in a long time.  Might go Monday, but they seem to throw more out later in the season.

Last year I went.   Had good day.  Got 2 wild browns.  8 and 11 inches  on nymphs I tired.

I fish every Trout Opener, shoot every Jake that presents a shot, and will shoot a spike during 6 Day on State Land. I'm a deplorable redneck with no ego

Haven't done a Saturday morning in years, did a couple of afternoons on a boat. I wait for Sunday morning and weekday mornings after opening day

I once caught 47 trout on opening day in the Big Flatbrook ... I LOVE OPENING DAY ! ! !

Don’t think I’ll be around but last year’s opener was interesting where I fished.  Trout weren’t moving much.  A few anglers put their spinning rods down and used their nets to scoop up trout. One guy had 2 bows in the net as he scooped up a third.

Depends on the water conditions if they are not favorable I will go for stripers instead
