@LPJR do you think you can fit this motor in @JHbowhunter's "truck" so he can get more HP and torque out of it?  Or would this make his "truck" explode?

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

  • 4 weeks later...

Finally able to work on the Chevelle again today. Started at 1030 hours and we put in a full 7 hours replacing rusted metal with all new pieces. Cut, fabricated, massaged, and replaced lower sections that needed repair.

The rear quarters are essentially (90%) now ready for bodywork, but we will start it after addressing the front fenders.

Still waiting on a rear valence panel from AMD as well as a  brand new set of '71 SS rims I ordered from OPGI that should be here in the next week or two.  2 new rear shocks are going on next time as we ran out of time today to install them.

Some pics attached below of some of the repaired/replaced metal and work from today, as well as a pic of the rims that were ordered.

To be cont'd....

Excellent repairs on those rocker panels! What some guys and Fly by Night repair shops will do is simply pack newspaper into the rust cavity and coat with Bondo. But that would easily rust through in a year or two. You guys are taking the time and the expense to do it as good as the finest restoration shops could do.  Looking good!

Thanks trap! While working on it last week,  we were talking about how much longer it has taken us than originally thought...But as you said the fenders may have just been put on at a shop without repairing/replacing the metal underneath and in the trunk area...

So pumped to see this shipment in the driveway today. Ordered the original '71 SS rims and set that I always wanted for the car from OPGI.

Now going to sell my Cragar Pro Tech rims and tires soon and install these with new rubber...
