Work has begun on the Chevelle/Update

Drove the car to my buddy's shop and we did lots of work on it the last two days. Started the bodywork on the driver side quarter panel and front fender rocker.....

Used Rage Gold, and did lots of sanding. LOTS OF SANDING.

Total time spent was 9 hours alone on just the rear quarter.

Applied a thin coat of epoxy primer to protect it until we have a chance to work on it again next week.

May decide to keep the Chevelle as a hardtop, the more I see it without the vinyl roof, the more it is growing on me. Not sure, will decide soon during the bodywork process...

Some pics attached for the car guys on W&W.

After we work on the passenger side quarter we will begin with the high build primer application. Then more sanding.....

  • 4 weeks later...

My buddy and I worked on the car and did some more bodywork on it a couple of days when we were both off the past few weeks.

Decided to keep the Chevelle as a hardtop being that the roof was in such good shape with no rust beneath the vinyl top...

Sprayed one coat of epoxy primer to seal the quarters and roof. Looking forward to beginning the high build primer which is next before TONS more sanding.....Going to work on it again this coming Friday, going to address the doors and front fenders next.

Lots of pics attached below detailing the recent progress this Spring...

Now this is a getting expensive!.. do I have to sign a waiver before I get into the driver's seat?:nerd:

Nowhere near as expensive if I had a bodyshop do the car. Can't and could not afford to have it done....Which is the reason why it is taking some time. We are doing everything ourselves...But, doing it right from the inside out...

Told you. You can drive it as long as you are cutting back on smoking after your recent scare and visit to the ER. That is was the deal Robert...

Glad you decided to go the hardtop route, think that is the right decision. Who had the body shop experience, I've been following this and probably missed that ?  Very impressive to stick to detail and do everything correct. I just love SB's , but that car is going to scream for a BB !
