My bet is he still won’t get it hunterbob. Let me just say this for starting we meaning rec and commercial work off the same number. Same with the bass but the recreational was Allocated 100% of the commercial quota because There is no such thing as a recreational quota so you might wanna be careful Of what you say it may come back to bite you in the butt

The southern states quota is to large.

And the have not been filling it. And when it’s not filled NMFS takes it and that is the total annual # so that the recreational quota get cut also. Here is what’s going on lets just say nj is allocated one million pounds it’s spits 60/40. 60 being commercial well the commercial guys have not been targeting them like they used to for many reasons but the state claims the recreational quota is always over but there’s really no way to prove that that’s a whole other story  but they know the commercial numbers are correct they have observers on board and many other means knowing they are true numbers. That said being that the commercial guys are coming up short the state is giving them larger landings because if they don’t catch it NMFS will take it and that means your recreational quota also. So you may want to thank any commercial fisherman you may know. And also you really can’t blame the state maybe they can manage the fisheries a little better with the slot thing that’s going on but at the same time they are trying to save what we have. Don’t think for one minute that NMFS wouldn’t take it to the chopping block trust me

Smitty, not sure if NFMS sat down in the last 2 years due to covid.

I don’t know what you mean by set down but yes they are hard at work destroying the industry. You should see what there doing to the scallop fisheries. The prices are already off the charts and just wait it’s gonna get worst. They cut back trips closed some of the most productive grounds in the mid Atlantic and and we all know about the fuel thing. Most of the boats are using 20+ gallons an hour and know it’s taking them twice as long to catch

NJ hunting and fishing woes can be summed up  in 4 words. “Too many damn humans”

I’m starting to believe Fish and Game is working more at just trying to PROLONG  hunting and fishing  here .

Seems everything they do is battle uphill .

‘This state government  could care less if hunting and fishing stopped here .

unlike other states that hold value to their resources , and grab every dollar in grants they can .

‘Nj doesn’t care to work for money that’s ear marked for our recreation, only money they can slide to other agendas .

.Fish and Game is way underfunded , way under staffed to be able to much of what they would like to .

Pretty much everything west of the 6200 also a big part of the Hudson canyon close area also the Delmarva just to name a few

Strike a line about two miles south of the Texas tower west to the the beach  and the north to Montauk beach is now closed and the quota is getting  a big cut that’s why you are already seeing big prices at the stores
