mike033089
I gave up on the whole disaster of pheasant hunting a couple years ago, however i was checking out the maps they now have of stocked areas at black river where I used to frequent. I noticed according to the map they only stock one section now. https://www.njfishandwildlife.org/pdf/pheasmaps/blackriver_youth.pdf
Jerzguy2
That's interesting, because when I used to hunt up there years ago, I never hunted that side.
mike033089
Yeah 2 years ago I hunted pheasants from the big lot before the range coming from route 10 or the other side of black river down the dirt road into the other lot and all that was always stocked. Seems odd to only limit is to one area. But I did real on some other bear related post about corn being planted there so maybe some fields are now corn? I haven’t been there or driven by this year so can’t confirm. Or maybe it gives the deer hunters some areas they don’t have to worry about getting shot at through the trees
trapoholic
I would rather go to a carnival than deal with the crowds in Black River! Rumrunner69
JGLMUZ
That map is for the youth hunting 230jhp
OldPiney Woods
That map was the stocking section for the youth day hunting. There is a separate map for regular stocking days. If you check the maps for the other WMAs from that site you quoted the stocking areas are all different. Jerzguy2

mike033089
Maybe it’s best for a moderator to remove this post so no one gets confused and discouraged from hunting black river Swamprat

Eyesofthewoods
I live bordering the black river and I can assure they are stocking lots of birds. Been a war zone In there since sunrise today. Hundreds of shots so id imagine many birds. One of the reasons I don’t archery hunt the mornings of stockings it’s 100% not safe. Jerzguy2
Wanted to go down to Clinton to watch ( not partake ), but was in to much pain. Two miles away and could visualize the pheasant flushing and the ensuing barrage as the sound of shots echoed up the mountain, as it flew for it's life across the field. hunterbob1
