I am taking a suggestion from a member of a Cooking Wild Game group on Facebook. He suggested I inject the brine into the deepest part of the meat to ensure full coverage. As you can see, the middle did not fully get the brine/cure. As I said, it was my first one. Always learning.

Yeah, smaller deer are perfect because there really isn't large muscles to make steaks and roasts out of.  Also, who wants to pay $90 to butcher a small deer? Just cut it into quarters and remove the backstraps and tenderloins.
