WVA gobbler down

Recommended Posts

Hi all, made a trip to our property in Preston county West Virginia for opening day of Turkey season. My uncle connected on a big gobbler this morning around 730 and I happened on another bunch around noon scouting for a new spot for tomorrow morning. Walked up on about 5 gobblers on the edge of a large cornfield, tucked behind a bush and they made their way into the cut corn. I took a long shot at the first gobbler that came out and missed but they were so confused by the shot another broke off and ran right past me at ten yards and My granddads Remington 12 gauge did the rest.

All told we probably saw about 10 gobblers, the property is absolutely loaded with birds this year. Got one more tag so headed out early again tomorrow. Thought this might whet everyone’s appetite for the Jersey opener!
