Another good 2 1/2 hr run on the Barnegat Bay

Ran 12 topless traps solo again  for 2 1/2 hr  chicken backs in 5 ft of water they were at today.

Do you do anything with the chicken beforehand? Leave it out in the sun? Or do you take it right out of the package and use it fresh?

I thaw it out the night before and just use it fresh ive  tried that crab juice stuff but plain chicken seems to do just fine  i had 2 traps with bunker they never even touched it not even little ones .

Amazing how different crabs behave from place to place and time to time... I'm usually the opposite... I'll catch 'em on bunker all day, but have chicken in a trap that they never touch. I don't do the whole "set it out in the sun and rot for 2 days" thing - I do what you do - thaw it out and use it fresh. I use thighs though - wonder if backs or necks are more enticing to crabs? Do crabs know the difference?  

Chicken has been so bad for me the past couple years that my crab bait of late has been crow and squirrel - believe if or not, I catch a bunch with that. I need to get out again soon.
