Biden administration pushing 10 knot speed limit

The Biden administration is pushing for a 10 knot speed limit on all ocean vessels 35’ and over .

‘The thought is to protect marine life , whales , turtles etc .

can you imagine having spent a million dollars on a high end boat to be told you can no longer run the boat 1/7 of its capability ??

but someone running a boat just a little smaller can fly past you at 50 mph

 

it is just unreal to me where these ideas stem from .

Yeah so what happens when you need to outrun a storm or bring someone in with a medical emergency, or just simply trying to get your catch in as fresh as possible???

Not a ton of info out there on this that I could find in a 10 second search, but would designate certain areas marine sanctuaries allowing rules to protect wildlife, not the entire ocean,, such as hudson canyon for example.

Actually quite a bit of info out there . And it’s a lot of the eastern seaboard in question .

I am not in the know as al lI gots a a 21'er, but arent there already speed rules in place in areas at times of year for whales and such?
