Lower Raritan Holdovers

While fishing for smallmouth I ran into a few of these holdovers!

the lower raritan is a fall stocked trout that came from either the north or south branch

Nice chunky rainbow FLDBRED  and nice brown your son got SPEARFISH as well . Have to get out and go and see if I can catch a few this week.

nice there are far more holdovers then most people think. trout season is year round here. although i stay away from trout fishing in july/aug. especially in the conservation areas.

I hope you're talking about the Musky and not the lower Raritan, there are no survivors from spring down there, just fall fish that didnt get caught

He was decent maybe 18 - 19 inches .

Only in the "no kil" areas or if it was below a certain size.

 He did let it go as stated, but he didn't have to.   He also caught this.

We used to catch trout in the main Raritan throughout the summer below the some of the dams.

lower raritan no. in general though, south branch, musky, flatbrook. other places yes, they do.
