Bug ID

Was out fishing today with Hemlock and my son.  Looked over at my son and saw this guy on his shirt.   I grabbed it and it clicked and snapped out of my hand.  Then it put all it's extremities in and was like a piece of wood not moving.  It then snapped and jumped out of my sons hand, before flying away.  Cool bug!

Weird, I had never seen one until yesterday. Had one in my driveway .

i find beatles similar to that in my yard. i forget the name but they are all black and about 3-4 inches

That was a cool looking beetle. I still can't believe how well it stayed on his hook. He caught like 7 trout,1 bass and a world class bluegill on it. lol

Almost as good as the small snakes we used.
