Venison Shepherds Pie

Buddy of mine shared his recipe with me. Only thing I did different was added mushrooms and substituted carrots with corn.

Nice! I made Shepard’s pie last Sunday for my parents. Got the recipe from a guy on njh. Splitting hairs here but yours would be hunters pie with venison, Shepard’s with lamb and with beef it would be called cottage or cowboy pie.

If you feed/bait your deer then it can be called Shepard’s pie

Technically you would have to herd them in to make it Shepard’s so I think deer that one feeds would be considered cowboy/cottage haha

The recipe I follow calls for cheesy mashed potatoes, add about a two cups  or so of shredded cheddar cheese and damn that’s good stuff!

Looks great! I make venison sheppards pie as well. I substitute lima beans for the peas. The wife hates lima beans normally but prefers them in sheppards pie.

It’s tasty! Not something I would personally drink as an all day kind of beer but 1 or 2 with dinner is very good.
