harlequins are very cool looking Ducks. The best spot I know for getting close to them is Barnegat Light jetty. They are very hard to get a technically good  close up of because they are mainly dark but have some bright white patches. If you set for dark body the white gets overexposed, if you set fir the bright white patches the rest comes out very dark. Overcast days, no direct sun, are the best

Makes me feel a little better...……..  We went to the lighthouse yesterday and I took hundreds of pic's of them and ended up getting pissed and deleting them all.
