Snakes on the AT

Took a walk on the AT today and got a full house: a black phase rattler, a yellow phase rattler, and a copperhead.  

 

Both rattlers were gravid females, you can see how stretched out her belly is in the second picture.

Wow. that black phase female sure is ready to drop some kids.  Late August into September is her time, so she'll go soon.  Great photos.

Wow, better keep my eyes open. I was up there yesterday and did the Dunnfield Creek to Sunfish, and back the AT to the lot, Didn't see a single snake. Maybe need to look closer.
