Lamiglas LCS9MS reel

Recommended Posts

I just bought a LCS9MS surf rod. 9foot, 12-30lb line 1/2 to 3oz medium power.  What reel and line should I be looking at?   I never own a pen reel before and would like to give one a try.

I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.

Ask your self what you will do with it.  I spend alot of time chest deep in water for stripers so a vanstaal was r8ght for me.  With that said the suggestions above are great I've had great luck eith shimano saragosa as well

4500 or 6000? Seems like a big difference in size. When I looked at the penn site.

4500

6500 is 10 ounces heavier , won’t balance as well on that rod

Unless you’re going to store your reel in salt water and throw it in the sand daily, a Van Stall is a bit overkill and they feel like reeling a cement mixer.

I would second the Diawa BG series and i have had nothing but great experiences with the Diawa Saltist MQ reels.

Anything in the 4000-5000 series reels from Penn, Diawa, or shimano will work.

tons of guys who fish the cape cod canal swear by the Shimano Saragossa reels.

You’re correct. It all depends how close to $1000 you want to get ! Lol. To be honest I’ll be looking to get a V.S. To pair up with a 10 footer at the expo.

but man those newer diawa’s are hard to beat .
